Forge’s inaugural trip to Cannes for the biggest property conference in Europe, MIPIM, was a chance to hear from some of the most exciting real estate companies and mingle with other PropTechs. It was also an opportunity to catch up with customers like Knight Frank and innovative property management companies such as Locale and Equiem.

The conference, held at the infamous Palais des Festivals, Cannes, France, hosted over 25,000 people over the three jam-packed days.

We attended the Global PropTech event, where WeWork’s Mary Finnegan talked about how they’ve grown to over 45,000 users of its spaces. She explained that it was because of their clear focus on the end-user – and creating a model that works for them.

On the Oslo stand Disruptive Technology demonstrated its 15-year battery sensor, used for predictive maintenance and building usage. It has now partnered with Aero, a smart facilities management company.

On Thursday the Forge team attended a ticket-only event featuring a talk by Business philosopher Anders Indset. He explained that we should look at our business holistically -from the inside out.

Meanwhile, JLL Spark’s EMEA Digital head Tanguy Quero spoke about the companies they had funded over the past year, with a focus on funding companies that centred on sustainability, energy efficiencies, mobility and smart cities. These included Hq0, Hubble and Vergesense.

To round off the hugely informative and enjoyable three days, we attended the closing drinks. They were hosted by PlaceTech, a leading online property technology publication with Equiem and New York based investment firm, 5th Wall.
